16th Annual Spring Tour of Historic Homes
2008 marks the 16th year Historic Trinity Episcopal Church Spring Tour of Historic Homes. Many of Apalachicola?s private homes and buildings can only be viewed from the exterior except for this unique day. For a $12.00 donation you can take a guided tour through architecturally and historically significant homes, churches and commercial buildings. Over 20 nationally acclaimed plein air artists will document the landscapes and the people who inhabit them in a "paint-out" the second week in May. Hailing from Maine to California to South Florida, today's plein air artists will paint on location in Apalachicola, Cape San Blas, East Point, Indian Pass, Mexico Beach, Port Saint Joe, and St. George Island.

The Wewahitchka Relay for Life will be held at the Honeyville Park 6:00 P.M. Friday, May 9 through 12:00 P.M. Saturday, May 10. We invite everyone to participate in the relay to increase awareness of cancer in the community and raise much needed funds to fight the disease. At Relay For Life, teams of friends, neighbors, families, and coworkers commit to keeping at least one member walking the track at all times?because cancer never sleeps. Please join other survivors in the inspirational Survivors Lap that officially begins our annual Relay For Life. For many, the experience of gathering together with other survivors is powerful and moving. Your family and friends are invited to join you during this celebration as well. The walking event will feature a DJ as well as live music and booths offering a variety of refreshments. A luminary Ceremony of Hope will be held at 9:00 Friday night. When the sun sets luminaria are lit, and a moment of silence falls during the Ceremony of Hope. During the ceremony everyone gathers to remember those lost to cancer, support those fighting cancer, and rejoice with those who have fought the disease and won.

The Annual Tupelo Honey Festival will be held Saturday, May 17 at the Lake Alice Park in Wewahitchka. There is something for everyone at the Tupelo Festival. Arts & crafts of all kinds, food vendors, games and activites for kid's, live music and dancing are just some of the usual fare offered. The most important is of course the honey. You can taste honey samples in straws and buy jars of all sizes to take home. Come out and see the crowning of the Tupelo Queen selected for her good works in the community.
